If you’re looking for a gorgeous and lavish place for your midyear vacay, I think I found the ultimate Resort for you. You’ll find this splendid hotel on the North Coast of the island where the beaches are the warmest and the loveliest of Mauritius. Find your perfect holiday to unwind and treat yourself at Lux* Grand Baie Resorts. This place just vibrates with that much-needed rejuvenating energy I personally longed for since the beginning of my busy and stressful year.
Extremely spacious and opulent with the natural, coarse textures of wood and rock that gives the place this special earthy vibe we are all crazy for in 2022. Entering the lobby, I told myself “this may be the biggest lobby I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen many in my life!”. By analyzing the space, I found that it was the remarkably high ceiling and the various full-of-light openings which were conferring this vast look to the area. The welcoming ritual before my room visit was admirably flawless. We were welcomed with an energizing bubbly drink and a soft Financier cake financier from Maison Lux* their Milanese-style in-house café.
I was so excited to step into my room and let me tell you the eagerness was truly relevant because when I saw my Junior Suite I really felt a sweet feeling of harmony. The view from the balcony was pure paradise. I loved the arch designs which are so trendy these days. The giant and automatic curtains made me feel like being the star of an intriguing and fascinating movie. Should I mention the comfort of the bed? I guess you can imagine how soft and restful it was!
My crush was the bathroom. I’d like to add that I rate hotels mostly on the bathroom (and the food of course), this one was huge. I fell for the superb marble-terrazzo. On the overall, I found the black and white shades of my suite gorgeously elegant and the terrazzo material, fresh and invigorating. A combo full of simplicity which in the end IS what makes the space luxurious. If the Junior Suite is what it is, I can’t imagine the other bigger or more prestigious rooms or villas of this hotel.
Now, let’s talk about their food (one of the most serious things in my life). They have three restaurants. The Bisou restaurant which is a Rooftop resto-bar with a breathtaking view of the pool gently chit-chatting with the ocean and the palm trees. They do serve delicious tapas and cocktails. I tasted a few Bisou dishes such as their Chickpeas Fries, Duck & fries, Crab cakes and a few other yummy tapas with mind-blowing cocktails & mocktails. Their way of presenting their drinks is very catchy and appealing.
They also have the Beach rouge which is the main restaurant, a big magnificent area with a variety of food. From steak house style barbecue to pizza and pasta with seafood or delicious starters and desserts. To start, we ordered some oysters, they were extremely fresh, served on ice and accompanied by tabasco and lemon. Such a feast for my taste buds.
Their bisque soup had the most amazing flavour ever. We also had a Fish ceviche with fruits, those were divinely plumped and fresh. The main course consisted of a blissful soft shell crab linguini and last but not least a coconut-flavored bomb for dessert!
The third and last restaurant you can find at Lux* Grand Baie is the Aikisu a South-East Asian cuisine area. As a connoisseur in Asian food, I can say that it’s the best refined Asian cuisine I’ve ever tasted so far. I travelled a lot and got to taste a lot of Asian meals, so trust me with that. We also had sushi & dumplings, they have a variety of delicacies like Cherry foie gras, Black truffle or Crab dumplings, dangerously delicious. I tasted the ramen as well which they infused 48 hours in the broth, it was such an explosion of taste in the mouth.
The desserts are just excellent with amazing textures, taste and presentation.
Finally, got to have some pampering me-time at the Spa corner. The décor was exquisite, neutral shades with a hint of a Greece-feel. They played with white and some additional black to enhance the mood. The arch style is also very present in the Spa-like in the overall structure of the resort. To deeply relax (a much-needed moment), I experienced an amazing treatment of 1-hour relaxing massage, I indulged myself at another level here. They also offer a range of organic quality products such as scrubs, creams, and bathtub powder among others.
The next day, we had an in-room breakfast which was a lovely experience. To sum up my stay, I must say that the service was among the most delicate and charming. I give this hotel a perfect review for how Lux* group arranged their new hotel, it’s a dream to stay there.
If you like to party, they also propose witty events with the best djs, if you just want to experience their food, you may get yourself a day pass to give their restaurants a try. Here we are for my experience at the new Lux* Grand Baie. Don’t forget, you deserve that mid-year break, it’s the perfect time of the season to treat yourself beautiful souls.
