Till now a lot of people, especially meat eaters, often ask me how vegans do to enjoy tasteful meals? As if they think that vegan people eat only lettuce leafs and raw carrots. Guys, their enormous care for animals does not mean that they do not for their palate! If I told you that any non-veg meals tasty as hell has its vegan version, would you trust me? Vegetarian “meat” may sound strange but these things are delicious and not a single animal on earth have been hurt for those.

Soya is one of an alternative but especially for those who were once meat eaters, they feel the craving sometimes, they won’t lie. Plant based meat is an excellent alternative in term of taste for the gourmet. Nevertheless, if you are sodium sensitive, you want to avoid eating it every single day. Apart from this, plant-based meat is an excellent source of calcium, protein and fibres, a healthy replacement for real meat. I am not vegan myself but like going plant based from time to time as a flexitarian. Yes, I do care for the over consumption of meat today. Did you know that raising more and more animals for food is majorly contributing to earth damage?

We have also the part of truly caring for animals. When Elisa Hugnin from @fueledbyplants on Instagram tells me about her transition, I was moved! She started to feel the urge to make the shift by seeing documentaries. She was psychologically and emotionally involved in the wellbeing of animals. At first, she started by drastically reducing her meat intake and started various vegan options before totally going meatless and choosing vegan certified products whether for make-up, food and others. Even if for Elisa, health is an overall (you need to stay fit, sleep well and have a clear mind), she started to see benefits from going vegan, like falling sick less often and feeling more energetic than before. But above all, she is in peace with herself from treating animals like she wanted to.

I have tried a lot of alternatives and would recommend one of the latest trendy Beyond Burger meat. I cooked those burgers and I promise, the way those look is just awesome. You won’t even notice it is actually just plant. The composition is unique and delicious; so squishy, juicy and yummy! Made of pea, mung bean, faba bean and brown rice plus beetroot juice for its red colour, apple extract and natural flavours for a unique taste. Furthermore, they contain healthy fats (coconut oil). You can get their products at Super U & Intermart or directly with Infinite Foods by connecting with Ashley (ashley@infinitefoods.com).

I would also say that if you are going plant based or already are, you need some serious quality food as you need your proteins and other nutrients elsewhere from meat. Products from NeoFoods like their Peanut Butter Spread from Mayver’s also come in additional protein jar. Their Nova chocolates also does not contain sugar or milk. Cocoa is an excellent source of polyphenols, antioxidants that improves blood flow and brain function. NeoFoods also have a great variety of nuts which vegans should be consuming as a daily habit in their meal, these are packed full of all sort of necessary nutrients for your body.

Nowadays, there are so many delicious ways to lower your carbon footprint, to cut bad cholesterol or to care for our animal friends. I will add that you do not have to be vegan or vegetarian to enjoy Beyond Meat. It is such a delicacy, you will even forget it is not real meat.  You will not have to compromise your recipes, you can make delicious sausage-based recipes, flavourful burgers and even tacos with their Beyond beef crumbles. That said, I think I am up to a Beyond burger for lunch, do not hesitate to send me photos of yours!

Ps: We are coming up with a new cafe resto really soon right in the Capital! Bali Cravings by Lexia gets you covered in a tropical and cosy atmosphere to serve you with the best vegan food among others. You will be able to find some of the ingredients above.
Stay tuned!!
